PTML PAYS RETIREMENT BENEFITS TO AGED AND DECEASED DOCKWORKERS.
PTML Management at Tin Can Island Port, Apapa, has paid the entitlements of 74 retired dockworkers and the benefits of 10 deceased dockworkers to their next of kin, totaling 84 beneficiaries, in a gesture of goodwill and fulfillment of its obligations.

The payment exercise was overseen by Comrade Bello Abubakir, Vice President-General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), representing the President-General, Comrade Ibrahim Ohize, President of the Dockworkers Branch, and other union officials.

Prince Adeyanju noted that since inception of the terminal, this is the very first time that PTML will be applying the minimum salary standard (NJIC) to the fullest, even surpassing what was recommended in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for the payment of Dockworkers retirees in its Terminal and it’s worthy of emulation by other terminals who have not done theirs and advised that they should follow suite.
The foremost Maritime Labour leader, Dr. Adeyanju, praised the management of PTML for taking such laudable bold step ito putting smiles on the faces of both the aged retirees and the family of the deceased who got the entitlements of their departed beloved ones.
