LAGOS FREE TRADE ZONE COMMAND ACHIEVES REMARKABLE REVIEW GROWTH

The Lagos Free Trade Zone Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, led by Comptroller Olanrewaju Abdulwahab Olumoh, has achieved remarkable revenue growth. Between January and August 2024, the command collected N234 billion, surpassing the N74 billion collected in 2023 by 100%.

He noted that the turn around time for cargoes is impressive, as the 13 free trade zones in the command is performing extremely well.

Comptroller Olomoh expressed deep appreciation to Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi for the Nigeria Customs Service’s innovative, collaborative and consolidated policy approach. Olomoh also thanked Adeniyi for establishing a sick bay to support officers’ and men’s well-being.

Looking ahead, Olomoh confidently predicted the command’s ascension to Nigeria’s top five revenue-generating commands.

He credited the Lagos Free Trade Zone Command’s impressive performance to several key factors, which includes open door policy, stakeholders engagement, compliant investors, intelligence unit’s hard work, post clearance audit and fast track policy.

Olumoh also praised the media for their vital role in showcasing the command’s achievements, highlighting the importance of strategic communication and collaboration under Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi’s leadership.

Comptroller Olumoh announced that the Nigeria Customs Service headquarters will soon tackle accommodation challenges to boost officer morale. Additionally, measures are underway to address staffing shortages within the command.
