Comptr Babandede Receives Award for Excellence in Anti-smuggling

Comptroller Mohammed Babandede, the Customs Area Comptroller of Onne Area II Command, has been honored by the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, in Abuja. This recognition is a testament to Babandede’s hard work and dedication to his role.

The award bestowed upon the Onne Command is a testament to their unwavering dedication to preventing the importation of illicit goods, including drugs, arms, and ammunition. This remarkable effort has undoubtedly saved countless Nigerian lives.

According to Customs Area Comptroller, Mr. Mohammed Babandede, the success of the Onne Command can be attributed to the collective efforts of its officers and men, who have worked tirelessly to ensure public health and safety.

The Customs Area Controller (CAC) expressed gratitude to every officer and man of the Command for their tireless efforts in making Nigeria a safer place. This acknowledgment comes on the heels of the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi’s, recent visits to Onne Area II Customs Command in Rivers State.

During these visits, the CGC recognized the Command’s seizures of multiple cargoes containing illicit drugs, arms, and ammunition. The persistent smuggling attempts prompted the CGC to declare a 3-month state of emergency at Onne Seaport. This decisive action underscores the Customs Service’s commitment to securing Nigeria’s borders and protecting its citizens.
