Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Customs Command Seizes Expired Drugs Amidst Major Revenue Boost
The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has announced a notable 63% increase in revenue for the first half of 2025. Speaking during a press briefing on August 15, 2025, Comptroller Eghosa Joyh Edelduok attributed the impressive performance to greater operational efficiency and improved compliance among stakeholders.
According to a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Victor Ogabor, key highlights include:
Revenue Surge: The Command collected ₦89.2 billion in the first half of 2025, up from ₦54.8 billion in the same period of 2024.
Anti-Smuggling Success: Two 40-foot containers loaded with expired pharmaceutical products, valued at ₦130 million, were intercepted.
Upholding Public Safety: The Command reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance on illegal imports, stressing its unwavering commitment to enforcing the law to safeguard public health while maintaining transparency, accountability, and professionalism.
Collaborative Approach: Ongoing engagement with stakeholders and strong inter-agency cooperation remain central to the Command’s strategy.
