Comptroller Obazee Takes Charge, Commits to Revenue Growth and Enhanced Security
On Wednesday, September 3, 2025, Comptroller Queen Obazee officially assumed duty as the 28th Customs Area Controller for the Ondo/Ekiti Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service in Akure. In her inaugural address, she vowed to uphold professionalism, transparency, and integrity while delivering on revenue generation, security, and trade facilitation.
She outlined four key strategic priorities: ensuring revenue integrity, enhancing security and supply chain protection, intensifying the anti-smuggling campaign, and promoting trade facilitation. Under revenue assurance, she committed to eliminating leakages and enforcing strict procedural discipline.
On security and supply chain protection, Comptroller Obazee highlighted the role of collaboration with other security agencies and leveraging community intelligence to safeguard key infrastructure and personnel. She also emphasized the importance of intelligence-driven strategies in combating smuggling activities.
Reaffirming her commitment to eradicating smuggling, she promised focused operations targeting illegal imports such as arms, drugs, and counterfeit items. She assured that all enforcement actions would be conducted with professionalism, legal backing, and proper evidence handling.
In the area of trade facilitation, Obazee pledged to strengthen engagement with stakeholders and reward compliant behavior. She said daily reviews of revenue performance would guide prompt corrective measures to address discrepancies.
Comptroller Obazee expressed her determination to fulfill the mandates of the Nigeria Customs Service and meet stakeholder expectations, ensuring the continued progress and effectiveness of the Ondo/Ekiti Command.
Welcoming her to the Command, Assistant Comptroller Moses Uchegbu, Acting Deputy Comptroller of Administration, reaffirmed the officers’ dedication to supporting her leadership and sustaining the achievements already made.
