Comptroller Oshoba Starts Strong, Breaks Revenue Record with ₦20.1 Billion in a Day
Just a day after assuming duty, Comptroller EAO Oshoba, the new Customs Area Controller of the Apapa Premier Port Command, has made an impactful start by building on the foundation laid by his predecessor.
On Tuesday, September 9th, the command recorded a remarkable ₦20,156,077,098.56 in revenue — the highest single-day collection in the history of any Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) command using the B’Odogwu system. This achievement surpasses the previous record of ₦18 billion.
This impressive feat underscores Comptroller Oshoba’s commitment to exceeding revenue targets, as outlined in his inaugural speech on Monday.
Shortly after taking over, he met with senior officers of the command, commending them for past achievements while urging them to elevate their efforts. He emphasized that exceptional results reflect true diligence, commitment, and integrity, adding that he believes the team is capable of even more.
Regarding the record-setting collection, Oshoba stated that this is just the beginning of bigger accomplishments and that it is premature to celebrate. He expressed confidence in even greater outcomes for the Apapa Command under his leadership.
He highlighted the B’ODOGWU system as a crucial step towards a more efficient and modern customs operation, one that aligns with Nigeria’s role as Africa’s largest economy and a hub for trade facilitation.
“I applaud my team and stakeholders for achieving this ₦20.1 billion milestone within 24 hours of my assumption,” Oshoba said. “But it’s not time for applause yet—clapping means stopping work. Let’s save the celebration for future milestones, like surpassing targets, preventing smuggling attempts, and ensuring speedy trade processing without compromising integrity.”
He concluded by encouraging his officers to maintain their momentum and urged stakeholders to remain compliant, noting that their collective efforts are making a positive impact on the Nigerian economy.
