NNMJ Officially Launches as Umbrella Body for Maritime Journalists in Nigeria
The Network of Nigerian Maritime Journalists (NNMJ)—a unifying body representing all associations of maritime journalists in Nigeria—formally announces its establishment to journalists, government agencies, and key stakeholders in the maritime sector.
This coalition has been formed to strengthen unity among journalists covering the maritime beat, while promoting collaboration under one stronger, more coordinated platform that advances the interests and welfare of all maritime journalists.
Membership of NNMJ includes professionals from existing maritime journalist associations such as the League of Maritime Editors (LEAGUE), Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN), Maritime Journalists’ Association of Nigeria (MAJAN), Shipping Correspondents Association of Nigeria (SCAN), Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMAN), Congress of Nigerian Maritime Media Practitioners (CONMMEP), as well as independent maritime journalists not affiliated with any group.
We now call on the support and cooperation of all journalists, government agencies, parastatals, and critical maritime stakeholders to help drive this initiative forward.
In the coming weeks, we will roll out our programmes and encourage all maritime journalists to actively participate, with the goal of improving industry coverage and elevating the professional standing of maritime reporters—who have, unfortunately, often been marginalized.
We deeply appreciate the continued loyalty and support of our colleagues and extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who has stood by us on this journey.
