With the growing concerns arising over the crisis currently rocking the New Nigerian People’s Party NNPP, the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders NAGAFF, parent body of NNPP, held a prayer session on Friday, 17th May, 2024 at the organisation’s Headquarters in Apapa Lagos.
The heavy downpour did not stop the members from gathering for the prayer, as it was perceived by many to be a divine sign of approval, and acceptance of the prayer by Heaven.
In an interview with Journalists at the event, Founder of NNPP and NAGAFF, Dr Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam, said the purpose of the prayer is about peace in the party.
”Today’s event is organised to seek God’s intervention in the crisis in the party and to also call for peace” Aniebonam said. Going further, the NNPP Founder said,” I am the Founder of NNPP, and I am also the founder of NAGAFF. As a father, there is no father that would like to see his house in turmoil, especially on trivia issues. “Issues that are not supposed to be a problem.”
Recalling the Kano episode where there was attempt to snatch NNPP’S victory in the Governorship election, Dr Anibonam said,” We all know we won election in Kano state, and given the environment we operate, we saw that victory was eluding us, and then we ran to God, and the result was quite positive. So this time around, we are seeking God’s intervention in the crisis. He said the internal crisis in the party is avoidable, and that to him, it doesn’t make sense, and that is our concern. “Why, what is the issue all about” he wondered.
The NNPP founder recalled how, while he was in his village in Anambra State for Christmas,Elder Buba Galadima, and others came to him as a delegation of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso, the object of their visit being to secure the NNPP platform for Kwankwaso to contest the 2023 presidential election.
He said he gave Senator Kwakwanso the NNPP platform at no costs, adding that he even spent his hard earned money to support Kwakwanso’s ambition of becoming the president of Nigeria on the platform of NNPP.
Dr Anibonam narrated how Senator Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso has contrived to highjack the party he joined only a year and six months ago, by mutilating the party’s logo, and manipulation of the constitution.
Asked why the NNPP has not taken criminal action against Senator Kwakwanso, Dr Aniebonam said the party is working towards that. Earlier, Deputy National President of NAGAFF, Fwdr.Simeon Nwaonu, who moderated the event noted that NAGAFF believes so much in the power of God to turn things around, stressing that God has done it before and will do it again ”it is our hope that God shall intervene in the internal wranglings of the NNPP and also give Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso the wisdom to retrace his steps in the issues concerning NNPP and his role therein.
“Recall that when the odds were against us in Kano State governorship election at the tribunal and appeal court, we ran to God for intervention at the Supreme Court and He answered us.
“It is our hope and belief that God will answer us again at this trial period of internal crisis.” Nwaonu said
The NAGAFF Deputy National President, urged members to be calm and continue to pray for the party, noting that it will all end in laughter.
Alluding to the earlier speech by Fwdr.Nwaonu, the officiating Minister, Pastor Joel Ozor, of the Rock of Evidence Assembly in Ojo, Lagos, compared the NNPP issue with Kwakwanso as a case of David and Goliath.
In a sermon he titled; “Controversy” Pastor Joel noted that from the beginning of time controversy had exited, adding that every great man and every great destiny should expect controversy.
He cited Gen.13: 1-15 and Gen 37 and many other scriptures dealing with controversy to buttress his point.
He said regardless of the controversy now in the party, victory is sure for NNPP, adding that “anyone who doesn’t want peace, God will remove them.”
He said the vision of NNPP was given to one man ,and that man is Dr Aniebonam.
His words,” There are people whose presence in NNPP is covering the glory of the party, but the moment God removes them ,the glory of NNPP shall rise.There are people you don’t need in life.You don’t need them to move forward.
You can succeed in your space, “Anything that is not in agreement with the peace of NNPP shall be thrown out. And any man that doesn’t want peace in NNPP shall be thrown away”
