FOUNDER, BoT WRITE INEC TO TAKE CONTROL OF PARTY AFFAIRS
The unwavering crisis in New Nigeria People’s Party, (NNPP) has taken a twist, with the Founder Dr B. O. Aniebonam in association with the Board of Trustees in an aggressive mood have now resorted to taking over the affairs of the party to preserve its life, pending the resolution of all disputes within the party currently in different Courts of the Federation.
In a two page letter to INEC written by Templum Solicitors, Solicitors to Dr Aniebonam and members of the Board of Trustees, titled “Notice of the plans of the Founder, Dr Aniebonam and members of the Board of Trustees to take over the affairs of the New Nigeria People’s Party in view of current leadership dispute in the party and several Court Cases”, the Solicitors brought the Commission up to speed with the lingering disputes, while they also informed INEC of their Client’s resolve to take charge of the affairs of the Party, pending the resolution of all leadership disputes still in Courts.
The letter in the last paragraph reads: “Consequent upon the above, and in consonance with the provision of Article 12,3,4 (a) of the New Nigeria People’s Party 2022, the Founder in conjunction With the members of the Board of Trustees have decided to take over the affairs of the Party, pending the final determination of all the lingering leadership disputes currently before different Courts of the federation in order to keep the party intact.”
The above Article as quoted above give the Founder who is the only life member of the BoT the absolute right to take control of the Party in situations like this, to ensure sanity is restored.
Recall that the NNPP had recently accused INEC of taking sides with Kwankwaso, attending the convention organized by the expelled Presidential Candidate to the dismay of the Party and Founder who had written the Commission after obtaining an injunction to stop the convention.
