NCS, NIIA, Unveil Bashir Adeniyi Centre for Global Trade Excellence
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in collaboration with the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) have made a groundbreaking move by launching the Bashir Adeniyi Centre for International Trade and Investment in collaboration with the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA). This innovative center is named after the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, and was officially inaugurated at the NIIA in Lagos.
The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, is confident that the newly launched Bashir Adeniyi Centre for International Trade and Investment will become a leading think tank on international trade and investment in Nigeria. He believes the centre’s establishment is timely, as Nigeria seeks to strengthen its position in the global trade environment. Adeniyi envisions the centre evolving into a comprehensive national hub, providing expertise and guidance on international trade and investment.
Professor Eghosa Osaghae, Director General of NIIA, in his welcome address, emphasized the significance of the newly launched centre, noting that it will serve as a finishing school for senior customs officers.
“Today, we are very pleased as an Institute to announce to the world that we now have the Bashir Adeniyi Centre for International Trade and Investment. This centre will serve as a finishing school for senior officers in customs, offering senior executive courses that will be certificated. Because this is the NIIA, we will do this as a global affair, properly immersing the Nigeria Customs Service in the framework of the World Customs Organisation,” he stated.
The recent event brought together esteemed individuals, including Donald Duke and Dr. Chinyere Almona, to tackle the pressing issues facing Nigeria’s economy in terms of trade and investment.
The CGC recently highlighted the significance of the newly launched Bashir Adeniyi Centre for International Trade and Investment, emphasizing its crucial role in promoting trade facilitation and capacity building. “We’re committed to our mandate of trade facilitation, and this centre will be a hub for excellence in building capacity and creating awareness about international trade,” he noted.
The CGC officially unveiled the centre and toured the facility.
