Comptroller Balogun Decorates 67 Newly Promoted Officers of Customs Federal Operations Unit ‘C’ Owerri

The Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone C, Owerri, under the Nigeria Customs Service, held a decoration ceremony on Thursday to honor 67 officers who were recently promoted to various ranks within the organization.

During the event, the Comptroller of the Unit, Bashir Balogun, highlighted that the promotions were not merely procedural but a recognition of dedication, hard work, and loyalty. He stressed that the newly promoted officers would now be expected to take on greater responsibilities as they progress in their careers.

Officers were promoted across eight rank levels. The largest group included 18 officers elevated from Intelligence Corps to Assistant Superintendent of Customs II, while 17 others moved up from Assistant Superintendent of Customs II to Assistant Superintendent of Customs I. The promotions also included three officers who advanced from Assistant Comptroller to Deputy Comptroller, and one officer promoted from Chief Superintendent of Customs to Assistant Comptroller, among others.

Comptroller Balogun relayed congratulations from the Comptroller General of Customs and the Service’s leadership, encouraging the officers to see their promotion as both an honor and a challenge. He emphasized the critical role of the Federal Operations Unit in combating smuggling, boosting revenue, and facilitating trade.

“With promotion comes greater responsibility,” he reminded the officers, urging them to embody the Service’s core values—integrity, transparency, and professionalism.

Balogun also extended his gratitude to the families, friends, and colleagues of the promoted officers, acknowledging their support and sacrifices. For those who were not promoted, he offered words of encouragement, advising them to remain resilient and prepare for future opportunities.
