COMPTROLLER ABDULLAHI KAILA ASSUMES LEADERSHIP AT SEME CUSTOMS AREA COMMAND
At the handover ceremony, Comptroller Adenuga disclosed that the Command’s revenue rose significantly from N5.17 million to N1.5 billion, attributing the achievement to the dedication and hard work of officers and personnel. He encouraged them to extend the same level of cooperation and support to the new Area Controller to sustain progress. Adenuga also expressed appreciation to officers and sister agencies for their collaboration throughout his tenure.
In his address, the new Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Abdullahi Kaila, noted that the Seme Area Command is not new to him, having previously served in various capacities along border formations. He commended his predecessor for leaving behind a legacy of exemplary leadership and pledged to build on that foundation.
Kaila stated that his administration would focus on enhancing revenue generation, strengthening anti-smuggling operations, and fostering effective stakeholder engagement in line with the policy direction of the Comptroller-General of Customs. He emphasized the need for discipline, professionalism, unity, and ethical conduct among officers to ensure the Command’s success.
Reaffirming the core mandates of the Nigeria Customs Service—revenue generation, trade facilitation, suppression of smuggling, and national security—Kaila assured that these would remain top priorities during his tenure. Described as a results-driven and highly professional officer with a strong reputation for integrity, he is expected to reposition the Seme Area Command in line with the vision and mission of the Service.
He also called for the continued support and cooperation of stakeholders, stressing that collective efforts would be key to overcoming challenges and achieving greater milestones.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the FRSC, Nigerian Army, Police, Port Health Service, Immigration, Nigerian Air Force, NDLEA, and community leaders in Seme, among others.
