DC Adigun Advocates Strong Inter-Agency Synergy as Navy MCID Commander Visits KLT
Aligned with the policy direction of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, which focuses on Consolidation, Collaboration, and Innovation to boost revenue, curb smuggling, and strengthen inter-agency cooperation, the Commander of the Materials Clearing and Inspection Office (MCIO), Nigerian Navy Apapa, Captain U.S. Akoh, led his team on a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Customs Service, Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Area Command in Lagos on Thursday, 26 March 2026.
The visit created a platform for both agencies to explore ways to enhance collaboration in port operations, security, cargo monitoring, and intelligence sharing within the maritime sector. They stressed that strong synergy among government bodies is essential for smooth trade processes and safeguarding national economic interests.
Speaking during the visit, Captain Akoh highlighted the importance of sustained cooperation among security agencies, likening government institutions to parts of a whole that must work together effectively. He also praised the Customs Service for its professionalism and commitment to trade facilitation and revenue generation, noting that collective effort is crucial to achieving national goals.
In his response, the Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller Bolaji Adigun, expressed appreciation for the ongoing partnership between the Nigerian Navy and the Nigeria Customs Service, reaffirming the command’s commitment to strengthening security, encouraging compliance, and ensuring efficient port operations.
The visit ended with the exchange of plaques, symbolizing mutual respect and a renewed commitment to deeper collaboration for safer and more efficient maritime activities.
