To commemorate three years of visionary leadership and transformative reforms at the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), the Powerful-Pen Media Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), in collaboration with the Maritime Journalists Association of Nigeria (MAJAN), has unveiled a special edition of The Powerful-Pen Magazine dedicated to the achievements of Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, PhD.

The commemorative publication showcases the significant milestones recorded under Adeniyi’s leadership, particularly in export promotion, trade facilitation, anti-smuggling operations, and effective border management. It also highlights the alignment of these initiatives with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic diversification agenda through the expansion of non-oil exports.

The special edition presents a comprehensive review of the reforms, innovations, and landmark achievements that have defined the current Customs administration, with a strong emphasis on the remarkable progress made in strengthening Nigeria’s export sector and enhancing trade efficiency across Customs commands nationwide.

According to Powerful-Pen and MAJAN, export development has become a hallmark of Adeniyi’s administration, positioning the NCS as a key driver of economic growth and diversification. The publication documents the Service’s efforts to simplify export procedures, deepen stakeholder engagement, improve border management, and deploy technology-driven solutions that have reduced bottlenecks and enhanced the ease of doing business.

These initiatives have expanded market access for Nigerian products, boosted exporter confidence, and strengthened the competitiveness of locally manufactured goods in regional and international markets.

The magazine further highlights the Customs Service’s support for the Federal Government’s non-oil export agenda through strategic reforms, improved transparency, and stronger collaboration with exporters, manufacturers, and regulatory agencies.

Beyond export development, the publication chronicles other notable achievements of the Adeniyi-led administration, including record revenue generation, modernization of Customs operations, intensified anti-smuggling campaigns, capacity-building programmes, and institutional reforms aimed at promoting efficiency, accountability, and professionalism.

The unveiling of the special edition serves not only as a celebration of Adeniyi’s accomplishments but also as recognition of a leadership era that has repositioned the Nigeria Customs Service as a catalyst for trade growth, economic development, and national prosperity.

Through detailed reports, analyses, interviews, and feature stories, The Powerful-Pen Magazine captures the journey of a Service that has embraced innovation and delivered measurable results.

As stakeholders in the maritime, trade, and export sectors reflect on the progress achieved over the past three years, the publication stands as a testament to the impact of purposeful leadership in unlocking Nigeria’s export potential and strengthening the nation’s economic future.
