PTML Donates Smart Office Complex to Customs
Port and Terminal Multi-Services Limited (PTML), Tin Can Island Port, has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) with the donation of a newly furnished office complex equipped with modern Information and Communications Technology (ICT) facilities to officers of the PTML Command.
The facility, officially handed over on Thursday, 7 May 2026, is aimed at improving operational efficiency, enhancing productivity and creating a more conducive working environment for Customs personnel.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, the Managing Director of PTML, Mr. Ascanio Russo, described the project as a reflection of the company’s dedication to strengthening its partnership with the Nigeria Customs Service and promoting higher operational standards at the port.
According to him, the initiative aligns with PTML’s broader objective of fostering stronger institutional collaboration that would ultimately benefit port users and the Nigerian economy.
“This project represents our long-standing partnership with the Nigeria Customs Service and our shared commitment to improving port operations,” Russo stated.
“We had pledged to provide additional office accommodation for Customs officers to complement the existing facilities, and we are pleased to fulfil that promise with a modern, functional and comfortable workspace.
“We believe that when regulatory agencies are adequately supported with the right infrastructure and work environment, they are better positioned to discharge their responsibilities effectively.
“This facility will enhance productivity, improve operational efficiency and contribute to smoother cargo movement and trade facilitation at the terminal,” he added.
Russo also praised officers and personnel of the PTML Command for their professionalism, resilience and contributions to sustaining cargo throughput and boosting government revenue generation despite operational challenges.
Receiving the facility on behalf of the Nigeria Customs Service, the Customs Area Controller of the PTML Command, Comptroller Joe Anani, expressed appreciation to PTML management for delivering what he described as a timely and impactful project.
Comptroller Anani emphasised that a conducive work environment plays a critical role in boosting staff morale, efficiency and overall performance, noting that the upgraded office complex would significantly improve administrative coordination and operational effectiveness within the Command.
“This is truly a remarkable development for the Command. I was informed that the project had been under consideration for quite some time, so witnessing its completion during my tenure is highly gratifying,” he said.
“PTML has shown genuine partnership and commitment through this commendable gesture.
“A modern office environment directly enhances the motivation and efficiency of officers. This facility will improve our operational capacity, create a better working atmosphere and further support our mandate of facilitating legitimate trade while ensuring compliance with government regulations.
“We sincerely appreciate PTML for fulfilling this promise and for its continued support to the activities of the Command,” Anani stated.
Stakeholders present at the event observed that the development would positively impact cargo clearance procedures, improve administrative processes and strengthen collaboration between terminal operators and regulatory agencies — factors considered essential to improving efficiency in Nigeria’s maritime sector.
