COMJAN Praises Adeniyi’s Leadership at NCS PR Conference
The recently concluded 2026 Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Public Relations Conference may have ended, but the insights, knowledge exchange, and strategic discussions between communication professionals and public relations officers will leave a lasting impact on participants.
Reacting after the week-long conference, which was attended by the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, President of the Coalition of Maritime Journalists Association of Nigeria (COMJAN), South-East and South-South Zones, Prof. Amb. Ralph John, JP, DD, praised the Customs boss for his visionary leadership and reforms that continue to transform the Service.
Prof. John commended CGC Adeniyi for approving the hosting of the 2026 PR Conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, describing the event as timely and beneficial in strengthening communication within the Nigeria Customs Service.
He also described the conference theme, “Realigning Corporate Communication as a Strategic Driver of Institutional Effectiveness and Public Trust,” as relevant, noting that it reflects the Service’s commitment to collaboration, transparency, revenue generation, and building public confidence.
Expressing gratitude for the safe return of all Public Relations Officers (PROs) and participating officers to their various commands, Prof. John encouraged them to build on the relationships established during the conference by fostering closer collaboration with maritime journalists.
He further applauded the National Public Relations Officer (NPRO) of the Nigeria Customs Service, Deputy Comptroller Abdullahi Maiwada, for his professionalism and outstanding performance throughout the conference, particularly during the Media Parley.
According to Prof. John, DC Maiwada’s emphasis on continuous training and retraining of maritime journalists was commendable, as it would enhance their understanding of Customs operations, technical processes, and industry terminology, ultimately improving the quality of reportage.
In his closing remarks, the COMJAN President expressed appreciation to the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Chief Superintendent of Customs (CSC) Emmanuel Tangwa, and members of the committee for successfully organising the conference and ensuring its smooth execution.
