Kolade Takes the Reins at Seme Command, Succeeding Bomodi

A ceremonial baton exchange to mark the transfer of leadership at the Seme Command of the Nigeria Customs Service was done recently, as Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs Timi Bomodi, who has been promoted, formally handed over the reins to Comptroller Kayode Rasheed Kolade during a brief but dignified ceremony.

The office of the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Supretendent of Customs, Abdullahi Onawu Hussaini, made a press release where details of the hand over were outlined.

Comptroller Kayode Rasheed Kolade assumed leadership of the Seme Area Command on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, succeeding Timi Bomodi, who was recently appointed as Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs (ACG).

During the handover ceremony at the CAC’s office in Seme-Krake Joint Border Post, Comptroller Kayode Rasheed Kolade pledged to build upon and enhance the accomplishments of his predecessor. With confidence in his ability to deliver on the responsibilities entrusted to him by the Nigeria Customs Service management, he drew on his extensive experience in various enforcement roles.

The new CAC reaffirmed his commitment to harnessing his expertise to navigate the complexities of the frontier Command, having previously served in this location. He sought the support and full cooperation of the Command’s officers and men, assuring them of an inclusive approach. Emphasizing the importance of teamwork, he urged officers to work together in the best interest of the country.

The Ag ACG Timi Bomodi thanked the Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, and the management of the NCS for the opportunity to serve as CAC and his subsequent elevation as Ag ACG. He appreciates the support and cooperation of officers and stakeholders and urged officers to extend the same to the new CAC.

The Ag ACG deemed Comptroller Kolade’s appointment a strategic move, predicting outstanding results from the Command amidst challenges.
As a highly accomplished and versatile customs professional, Comptroller Kolade boasts an impressive track record of service across multiple formations, complemented by extensive training and representation of the Customs Service at home and abroad.

He is a recipient of many awards in recognition of his outstanding achievements. The most cherished is the commendation letter for outstanding performance in anti-smuggling operations from the Former Comptroller General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (Rtd), in 2017 while serving as the Coordinator of CGC Strike Force Team Zone ‘ C’ covering South-South and South-East states”.
