Lekki Free Trade Zone Command Breaks Revenue Records with N459 Billion in Eight Months
The Nigeria Customs Service’s Lekki Free Trade Zone Command has achieved a major financial milestone, generating an impressive N459 billion in revenue between January and August 2025.
This outstanding achievement reflects the dedication of Customs personnel and the cooperation of compliant stakeholders.
The Command has so far amassed N358 billion in revenue for the year, with the Lekki Deep Seaport playing a pivotal role in this growth.
Since the port began operations in April 2023, it has contributed N459 billion, underscoring its growing importance as a strategic maritime hub in Nigeria and across West Africa.
Outgoing Area Controller, Comptroller Olanrewaju Olumoh, expressed his appreciation to Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi for the opportunity to lead the Command.
He also spotlighted key enforcement efforts, such as the interception of tramadol and unauthorized pharmaceuticals — a result of strong collaboration with partners like the NDLEA.
Taking over the helm, Comptroller HK Abubakar emphasized the role of divine guidance and teamwork, stating, “Everything is God’s doing, God is with us, and will continue to be with us.”
She pledged to apply her extensive experience to sustain an environment that supports lawful and efficient trade.
The Command also marked the promotion of several officers. Comptroller Olumoh urged those promoted to view their elevation as a call to higher service and dedication to the nation, while encouraging others to remain patient and hopeful for future advancement.
The Lekki Free Trade Zone Command’s strong revenue performance and active enforcement efforts reinforce its critical role in boosting Nigeria’s economy and safeguarding national interests.
