NDLEA Seizes 130.98kg of Drugs, Arrests 170 in Ebonyi

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Ebonyi State has apprehended 170 suspected drug traffickers and confiscated 130.98kg of illicit substances between January and March 2026.

The NDLEA Commander in the state, Mr. Jude Amaefule, disclosed this on Friday in Abakaliki, noting that the suspects included 146 men and 24 women, while two male suspects had already been convicted.

According to him, the seized drugs comprised 85.733kg of Cannabis sativa, 0.0617kg of methamphetamine, and 711 capsules of 100mg tramadol. Other recovered substances included 723 tablets of diazepam weighing 0.105kg, co-codamol, ergometrine, 487 ampoules of pentazocine weighing 1.670kg, and ecstasy.

Amaefule also revealed that the command rehabilitated and discharged nine drug-dependent clients during the period, while 11 others were newly admitted for treatment.

He added that 13 clients are currently undergoing rehabilitation at the facility, while 52 suspects — comprising 49 males and three females — were referred to the command’s counselling unit within the review period.
