The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has celebrated retired Deputy Comptroller-General (DCG) Musa Omale for his exceptional service and contributions to the growth of the organisation, with Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC) Adewale Adeniyi and members of the management team commending his professionalism, dedication, and commitment to national service.
At a retirement ceremony held on June 5, 2026, at the Customs Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, senior officers and colleagues gathered to honour Omale’s distinguished career and lasting impact on the Service.
Speaking at the event, CGC Adeniyi described the occasion as a cherished tradition that enables the Service to acknowledge the achievements of retiring officers while offering support and guidance as they begin a new chapter. He praised Omale’s intellectual capacity, passion for continuous learning, and commitment to personal development, describing him as a role model for younger officers.
The Customs boss noted that a public servant’s true legacy is reflected in the positive impact they leave behind, emphasizing that actions and conduct continue to shape how individuals are remembered. He also urged the retiree to exercise caution in future investments and engagements, stressing the importance of due diligence, while wishing him good health and continued success.
Members of the management team paid glowing tributes to Omale’s contributions over the years. Deputy Comptroller-General Timi Bomodi, who first met him 35 years ago in Port Harcourt, described him as humble, dependable, and a man of integrity whose character remained consistent throughout his career.
Director of Legal Services, Smart Akande, highlighted Omale’s diligence and professionalism, recalling their collaboration on prosecution matters in Port Harcourt. He credited Omale’s thoroughness and eloquence for contributing to the successful handling of several legal cases, adding that his academic inclination could see him excel even further after retirement.
Assistant Comptroller-General Nafiu Isiaku also applauded Omale’s passion for knowledge, attention to detail, and dedication to mentoring younger officers.
Speakers unanimously described the retired officer as an approachable leader whose discipline, commitment to excellence, and willingness to share knowledge earned him widespread respect across the Service.
In his remarks, Omale thanked the Comptroller-General, management team, and colleagues for the recognition. He attributed his love for academics and learning to experiences gained during his early years in the Service and reflected on a pivotal moment in his career when he represented a senior officer at a board meeting despite being relatively young, an opportunity he said greatly shaped his professional growth.
He pledged his continued support to the Nigeria Customs Service whenever needed and commended CGC Adeniyi for his inclusive and consultative leadership style.
The ceremony concluded with heartfelt tributes from colleagues and friends, celebrating a career defined by integrity, mentorship, scholarship, and dedicated service to the nation.
