PTML Customs Trains Senior Officers on Leadership and Service Excellence

The Ports and Terminals Multiservices Limited (PTML) Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Lagos, has organised a leadership seminar for senior officers to strengthen leadership capacity, professionalism, teamwork, and service delivery.

The seminar, held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, also featured the presentation of Certificates of Excellence to two outstanding officers by the Acting Customs Area Controller (CAC), Deputy Comptroller Nura Ibrahim Miko.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSC Abdullahi Abubakar, the seminar was organised in line with the vision of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, to develop a more efficient, motivated, and service-oriented workforce.

Declaring the seminar open, DC Miko stressed the importance of effective leadership in achieving the core mandates of the Service, particularly revenue generation, trade facilitation, and the suppression of smuggling.

He noted that the Command remained committed to initiatives that promote the welfare, health, and productivity of its officers, including the recently introduced Work-Life Balance Initiative.

Participants were trained on strategic leadership, effective communication, decision-making, conflict management, and ethical conduct. The Acting Area Controller delivered the first session, titled, “Leadership and Followership: Building a Culture of Collaboration and Excellence.”

DC Miko commended the participants for their active participation and urged them to apply the knowledge gained to improve service delivery across the Command.

He further reassured stakeholders and members of the trading community of the Command’s commitment to professionalism, transparency, and creating an enabling environment for ease of doing business.

The seminar attracted officers from the rank of Chief Superintendent of Customs to Deputy Comptroller of Customs.

A major highlight of the event was the presentation of Certificates of Excellence to Assistant Comptroller J.O. Ezekuse, Officer-in-Charge of Mile 2 Gate, and Chief Superintendent of Customs C.A. Ibrahim, Officer-in-Charge of the Legal Unit.

The Acting Area Controller urged all officers to remain dedicated to their duties and continue giving their best in service to the nation. He explained that the Command has mechanisms in place to recognise and reward diligence, selflessness, and outstanding service delivery.
