Chief Isikaku Boosts Operational Efficiency with Donation of Mini-Buses to ANLCA Members at Onne.
A significant milestone was recorded at the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) Secretariat in Onne, Rivers State, as the Chairman of the Onne Seaport Chapter, Chief Ifeanyi Isikaku (Onwa), commissioned two mini-buses to alleviate transportation difficulties experienced by members traveling between the Federal Ocean Terminal (FOT), Customs offices, and various port terminals.
In an interview with journalists, Chief Isikaku stated that the initiative fulfills one of his key campaign promises, aimed at boosting the welfare of ANLCA members and enhancing their operational efficiency within the port environment. He explained that the provision of the buses will significantly reduce transportation costs for agents and help improve the ease of doing business with the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in the Onne port corridor.
Reaffirming his administration’s dedication to a productive partnership with the NCS, Chief Isikaku praised the reform-driven leadership of Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, whose policies continue to transform Customs administration nationwide.
The bus unveiling was conducted by Barr. Raymond Onyimba, Principal Staff Officer to ANLCA’s National President, Mr. Emenike Kingsley Nwokeoji, who applauded Chief Isikaku’s swift execution of his promises. Describing him as a “political bulldozer” and “a man true to his word,” Barr. Onyimba noted that such leadership sets a strong example at the chapter level.
Similarly, Hon. Obinna Nwachukwu, Public Relations Officer of the ANLCA Onne Chapter, praised the move as timely and impactful. He said the buses would ease members’ movement within the port complex, reduce logistics costs, and enhance daily engagements with Customs and port stakeholders.
Earlier that day, the chapter held its monthly meeting, chaired by Alhaji Zaka Ahmed, Vice Chairman of ANLCA Onne Chapter. The meeting also featured a health sensitization session, where Dr. Akan Effenga of Edge Africa delivered a lecture titled: “Prostate and Cervical Cancer: Awareness, Prevention, and Cure.”
Dr. Effenga educated members on the symptoms, risks, and preventive measures for both cancers. He encouraged Nigerians to adopt healthy eating habits, stressing that balanced nutrition remains essential to disease prevention—even in tough economic times. He warned that neglecting health often leads to higher expenses later on when seeking treatment.
In his remarks, Chief Solomon Nnamocha, Chairman of the Welfare and Sensitisation Committee, commended Chief Isikaku—whom he called an “Action Man”—for beginning his tenure with practical solutions. He also lauded the inauguration of the committee, which made the health presentation possible.
Chief Nnamocha concluded by urging CEOs of licensed customs agencies to invest in staff training and retraining, noting that continuous capacity building is key to improved service delivery in the maritime industry.
